Bees and Butterflies Cause a Buzz in St. Louis Schools

Who doesn't marvel at the beauty of a butterfly as it flits from flower toLangellotto-kids flower? But, oh, those pesky bees! They sting. They buzz. They're just trouble. Or are they?

Bees have been in the news recently, and for good reason. Their numbers are declining, due in part to decreasing numbers of native plants. That's not good news for farmers or for those of us who like to eat. Many bees and butterflies are pollinators, and without them, most plants will not b able to produce fruits or seeds for the future. Dr. Gail Langellotto believes community and private gardens may provide refuge and food for these beneficial pollinators.
