Grant Recipient Spotlight
| Dr. Peter Wrege's 2007 Lindbergh Grant project studied "using acoustics to monitor poaching and elephant populations in forest clearings in central Africa." Now, he's working with Wildlife Conservation Society biologist Andrea Turkalo to develop the world's first elephant dictionary. Wrege says the project is in its infancy, stating, "We're in Kindergarten, now." Read about Dr. Wrege's research and find a link to the "60 Minutes" segment here. |
 | Dr. Steven W. Moore has brought middle and high-school students up-to-date on the latest in wireless video and Internet technology while getting them outdoors and giving them a fun, safe way to connect on a deeper, more meaningful level with wildlife near their homes and schools. Students designed and conduct experiments in which they used technology by positioning solar powered web cameras, infrared lights, long-range wireless Internet access equipment, and web-linked motion sensors outside in natural settings to answer their own questions about wildlife.
